ALGIERS- Detachments and units of the People’s National Army (ANP) carried out, from January 19 to 25, several operations as part of the fight against terrorism, indicated a communiqué from the Ministry of the National Defense.
Detachments of the ANP arrested five elements supporting terrorist groups “in separate operations carried out across the national territory” . In the same context, “another ANP detachment discovered, during a reconnaissance patrol in Bordj Badji Mokhtar/6th MR, a cache containing 07 remote detonation control systems, a grenade, 09 chains of ammunition, detonation capsules, in addition to (285) bullets of various calibers”.
Ten caches for terrorists and two “homemade” bombs were discovered and destroyed in Tizi Ouzou and Boumerdès, added the same source.
In addition, elements of the ANP, in coordination with the various security services in the 2nd and 3rd Military Regions, arrested 13 drug traffickers. They also thwarted attempts to introduce quantities of drugs “across the borders with Morocco, amounting to 23 quintals and 15 kilograms of treated Hashish”.
