ALGIERS- The Algerian embassy in Budapest revealed, today, Sunday on its official Facebook page that Hungary’s senior authorities have decided to exceptionally open their borders with Ukraine in order to welcome Algerian nationals fleeing the war.

The same sources also notified that the refugees only needed to be in possession of a Ukrainian residence certificate and their passports, specifying that the passage of refugees is possible at the border posts linking Ukraine to Hungary at the times indicated below:

For its part, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad called, Saturday, on the Algerian community in Ukraine to remain in permanent contact with Algeria’s embassy in Kyiv due to need for coordination in the context of the current situation in the country, which requires an extreme caution.

“As part of its continuous monitoring of the situation of the national community in Ukraine, and in view of the deterioration of the security situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad called on the citizens still present in Ukraine to remain in permanent contact with the Algerian Embassy in Kiev for the necessary coordination in the face of the development of the situation which requires extreme caution,” the statement read.

“For Algerians who have crossed the Ukrainian borders to Poland and Romania, the ministry invited them to contact the Algerian Embassy in Warsaw by calling 00 48 22 617 58 55 and the toll-free number 00 48 780 605 353, and the Algerian Embassy in Bucharest by calling 00 40 21 314 45 65″‘.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad pointed out that no casualty has been recorded so far, among the members of our community established in this country”.
