KONYA (Turkey)- Algerian swimmer Jaouad Syoud grabbed Monday his second gold medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey, as he dominated the finale of the 400m medley, clocking 4:23.34.
This is Syoud’s second medal in this competition, after that won, on Sunday, in the 200m medley with a time of 2:00.91.
This day was also marked by the harvest of three medals (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze) in judo. The gold medal was snatched by Amina Belkadi (-63 kilos=, the silver was won by Yamina Halata (-57 kg), while Imène Rezzoug gleaned the bronze (-48 kilos).
With these new medals, Algeria grabbed 22 charms (7 gold, 7 silver, and 8 bronze).
As a reminder, Algeria is participating in the Islamic Solidarity Games, which take place from August 9 to 18, with 147 athletes in 12 disciplines.
Nearly 6,000 athletes representing 56 countries are taking part in this edition.
The Islamic Solidarity Games are a multinational sporting event, organized by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (established on May 6, 1985 in Riyadh), under the aegis of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
