ALGIERS- The fourth annual high-level energy dialogue meeting between Algeria and the European Union, co-chaired by the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, and the European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, will take place on October 10th in Algiers, the ministry said, Saturday, in a statement.
The two officials will proceed, the day after this meeting, to the opening of the second Algeria-European Union business forum on energy, slated for October 11 and 12, 2022, the same source said.
“This 4th meeting is part of the dialogue mechanisms established by the strategic partnership between the European Union and Algeria in the field of energy”, underlined the communiqué.
This partnership covers all subjects of common interest, namely; the development of investments in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons, the prospects for the development of the gas industry, the development of hydrogen, electricity as well as cooperation in the field of renewable energies and energy efficiency in Algeria.
This meeting will also make it possible to review the progress made in the field of energy cooperation and its prospects, since the launch of the strategic partnership resulting from the last meeting held in Algiers on November 20, 2018.
Regarding the second business forum, “it aims to promote investments and industrial partnerships between Algerian and European companies in the energy sector and to engage in mutually beneficial partnerships in the light of the current energy situation,” pointed out the ministry.
This Forum will see the participation of representatives of embassies of EU countries accredited in Algeria, ministries and national institutions as well as industrial associations and employers’ organizations.
The program includes high-level panels on natural gas, new and renewable energies, energy efficiency and hydrogen. B2B meetings and an exhibition are also planned to discuss partnership and investment opportunities between Algeria and the EU.
The first Algeria-European Union Business Forum was held in May 2016 in Algiers, marked by a strong participation of Algerian operators and EU companies.
