Justice: Verdict of former SGSIA CEO Tahar Allache handed down

ALGIERS- The Court of Algiers sentenced, on Sunday, to six (6) years in prison, the former Director General (DG) of the Management Company of Airport Services and Infrastructures of Algiers (SGSIA), Tahar Allache, prosecuted in corruption cases.

The economic and financial penal pole of the tribunal of Sidi M’hamed (Algiers) had condemned, in first instance, Tahar Allache to a sentence of 8 years in prison accompanied by a fine of one (1) million DA with confiscation of all assets and property seized by order of the investigating judge.

The former CEO of SGSIA, whose duties were terminated last May, was sentenced for “squandering of public funds and abuse of office to obtain undue advantages, in particular during the implementation and management of Algiers International Airport”.

In the same case, the public prosecutor at the economic and financial penal pole of the tribunal of Sidi M’hamed (Algiers) had requested a sentence of 15 years in prison with a fine of one (1 ) million DA against Tahar Allache.
