Tunisian head of government hails Algeria’s support for her country

ALGIERS- The Head of the Tunisian Government, Ms. Najla Bouden, hailed, Monday in Algiers, Algeria’s support and solidarity with her country in this “sensitive” situation.

“I had the honor of meeting the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to whom I conveyed the greetings and renewed congratulations of President Kais Saïed for the success of the Arab Summit hosted by Algeria, at the beginning of November , as well as her wishes for more prosperity for Algeria”, declared Ms. Bouden at the end of the audience granted to her by President Tebboune, expressing her “gratitude to Algeria for its support to Tunisia in this sensitive situation that the country is going through”.

She also said that her visit to Algeria was aimed at “exchanging views, following the projects developed within the framework of the Algerian-Tunisian Joint Commission, and preparing the work of the next commission scheduled in Algiers”, as well as examining “the means allowing the establishment of a global strategic partnership” between the two sisterly countries.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra and the Director of Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic, Abdelaziz Khellaf, on the Algerian side, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Othman Jerandi, on the Tunisian side.

Tunisian Prime minister Najla Bouden started, Monday, a one-day working visit to Algeria. She was welcomed, upon her arrival at Algiers Houari-Boumediene International Airport, by the Prime Minister, Mr. Aïmene Benabderrahmane.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra paid, last week, a working visit to Tunisia as the special envoy of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during which he was received by President Kais Saied, the ministry said in a statement.

“In his capacity as special envoy of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Mr. Ramtane Lamamra paid a working visit to the Republic of Tunisia, a sisterly country, during which he was received by President Kaïs Saïed”, read the press release.

On this occasion, the minister “conveyed the greetings of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to his brother President Kaïs Saïed to whom he delivered a message of brotherhood which is part of the permanent contact between the leaders of the two countries driven by a common interest in hoisting bilateral cooperation relations to better horizons and deepening the tradition of consultation and coordination,” the statement said.

The meeting allowed “to examine the prospects for unifying efforts to implement the decisions adopted by Arab leaders at the Algiers summit”, added the same source.

After reviewing the current situation on the regional scene in the context of the political and economic challenges imposed by international tensions, the two parties noted the convergence of views and positions of the two sisterly countries on common threats.

Mr. Lamamra also met with his Tunisian counterpart, Mr. Othmane Jerandi with whom he discussed the upcoming meetings at both bilateral and multilateral levels, the same source concluded.
